UPDATE 26/11/2015 RELEASED!

We just released a new update for Liftoff! Get it on Steam now.

We are currently hard at work on the first “Milestone update”: we hope to get the track builder in the game in two weeks. This means a large portion of our efforts go to the development of this development milestone.  That’s why the normal updates, like today’s update, are a bit smaller in scope than we are used to.

This update includes:

  • Fixed Level mode “hold altitude” on game controller.
Enable “Throttle: hover at center” in the flight controller settings for this to work.
  • Allow steering at low RPM
  • Set PID settings to better default values
  • Small background visual update for Straw Bale

For the tinkerers among you:

We added new parameters in the player XML that you can use to adjust the feel of the flight behavior. You can find them at the end of the xml file, each marked “development_”.

There are 3 parameters, and 2 toggles to turn their effect on or off. AirDrag and UnityDrag change the drag of the drone. Airdrag is a custom implementation that works more at higher speeds. UnityDrag works throughout all speeds. ForcedMass allows you to override the mass (kg) of the drone.

Feel free to play around with these values, and let us know what you think feels best. AirDrag and unityDrag change the drag of the drone. Have fun!

Thank you for that great simulator!!!
Pls, fix that sound bug! All sound FX works good at first start! but if i go back to main menue and start a new flight, the sound fx of the Motors are off! so i have to quit and restart the game!

Working on it, you can currently get the sound back by pressing reset in the pause menu 😉

You don’t need to press reset in the menu, it is enough just to enter menu and then return to game…

    Hi guys! Good job here!
Just a question, does anybody know how to find player.xml file on MacOSX ?
    Thanks!

for mac right-click on the liftoff app choose show package content and go to the file in the subfolder (look around, you’ll find it – the key is right-clicking the app and then opening package or contents (something like that 😉 )
